China's largest Tang Dynasty-themed film and television studio—known as Tang City—is situated in Xiangyang, Hubei Province. Developed and constructed by the Xiangyang Zhigu Cultural Development Co., Ltd., this cultural industrial park is nestled within the scenic area of Mount Xian and the adjacent riverfront—a region renowned for its profound cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. The site is bordered by the Han River to the east, overlooks Mount Lumen to the south, is flanked by Mount Xian to the west, and adjoins the ancient city walls to the north.
The Tang Dynasty-themed Film and Television Base primarily comprises two distinct zones: Tang City proper and Chinatown. Spanning an area of over 600 *mu* (approximately 40 hectares), the complex represents a total investment of 1.2 billion RMB. The park is organized into five major thematic districts—City Gates, Palaces, Markets, Residences, and Temples—and features eight magnificent architectural landmarks characteristic of the High Tang era, including the Imperial Palace, Mingde Gate, Zhuque Gate, the Thousand-Step Corridor, the East Market, the West Market, and the Qinglong Temple.
With its innovative and unique architectural ensemble, Tang City fills a significant void in the history of Chinese Tang Dynasty architecture. Stepping into Tang City allows visitors to experience firsthand the historical figures, classic texts, poetry, and legends of the High Tang period.
